readme that ships on the disc repeats it.

"Microsoft", "Midtown Madness", the city names and the vehicle names used in the
game are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to identify
the software that this project lets you run on your own machine.

This site is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project. It is not affiliated with,
authorized, sponsored or endorsed by Microsoft Corporation or Angel Studios.

No part of Midtown Madness is distributed with this site. The site contains the
player only: a browser port of the operating system and graphics APIs the game
needs, plus a translator that turns the program into WebAssembly in your browser.
You supply your own disc image and Microsoft's own Midtown Madness 1.2 update
program (build 1589); both are read inside your browser and stay on your device.

The retail disc's own program is protected by copy protection and cannot be run
as shipped, which is why the port runs the patched program from Microsoft's
public update instead.
